Vtg. 70s Lilli Ann Paris / SF Glamorous Mod Metallic Brocade Evening Coat - S/M
Rare & Worthy of a Rock Star!

This is a very high quality, well made coat. It is gorgeous!

EXCITING PROVENANACE: Imagine my excitement while watching the French TV Series: ASK - Call my Agent Season 4, Episode 5 guest starring Signoury Weaver.  The actor's agent, Andrea,  is rushing to meet Signoury at the fabulous Hotel de Crillon in the 8th Arrondisement in Paris, and she is wearing this very Lilli Ann coat! In the script Andrea's baby Flora has spit up on Andrea's outfit and she stops in the hotel gift shop and buys this coat so she will have something decent to wear for the meeting. She looks incredible in the coat! And she wears it through the remainder of the episode! How cool is that?
Andrea is played by actress Camille Cottin. She is gorgeous and the coat is gorgeous on her!

An absolutely amazing Lilli Ann designer coat dating back to their documented 1972 fall-winter collection.

Lilli Ann was started in San Francisco in 1933 by Adolph Schuman, naming his company for his wife, Lillian. The company became known for their beautiful, elaborately designed suits and coats. This stunning garment is fashioned in a French Loomed Brocade. The fabric itself is a masterpiece; and was made exclusively for Lilli Ann. The construction is impeccable and has the type of seamed pattern work that one rarely sees today. This is a coat with that perfect vintage vibe. This exquisite Lilli-Ann will definitely make any woman shine during the upcoming winter months! It can be worn for special occasions or as an everyday statement piece. It works really well over all manner of black garments.

Fabric is a high quality European Silk Brocade in olive green, black, brown, orange & metallic gold.
The print is quintessentially mid-century modern.
The style is a classic tailored straight coat with an enlarged curved notch collar and lapels.
The brocade is edged in a 1'' wide black accent fabric.
The coat is extremely well made in the Lilli Ann tradition. All buttonholes are bound, thus handmade.
The coat is fully lined in a weighty black taffeta.
The brocade itself is of substantial weight so the entire coat has a lot of body.
The buttons are heavy brushed gold metal and are professionally sewn on with sturdy shanks.
( I love shanked buttons because they are properly sewn on & will not come off & get lost.)
Sleeves are full length to the wrists.
There are no pockets so the line over the hips is smooth. Pockets would have added bulk in this fabric.

This is a very unusual Lilli Ann coat.
I can just imagine wearing it to rock concerts in the 70s.
And private parties with famous people in attendance!
And shopping in London, Paris, New York & San Francisco!
And cruising through art galleries and museums!
I guarantee it would stand out! It looked great on Andrea in the Hotel de Crillon.

You can watch the episode to see the coat in action! It is one of my favorite TV Series anyway and I highly recommend it! Really good and highly entertaining! Excellent writing and acting from the entire cast. And inspiring vintage fashions!
