Artificial Intelligence and Product Listings

Fashion Conservatory requires listings to accurately represent the item being sold.

Photographs of the Actual Item

Every listing must include clear photographs of the actual item, including:

 • Front and back
 • Brand, maker, and content labels when applicable
 • Construction or identifying details
 • All visible damage, wear, alterations, and flaws

The primary listing image and all images necessary to evaluate the item must be photographs of the actual item.

AI-Generated Styling Images

AI-generated images may only be added after sufficient photographs of the actual item have been provided.

AI images:

 • May only be used to suggest styling or provide creative inspiration
 • Cannot be used as the primary listing image
 • Cannot replace photographs of the actual item
 • Cannot be used to demonstrate actual fit, color, scale, drape, condition, or construction
 • Must be visibly labeled “AI-Generated Image”
 • Must be clearly disclosed in the listing description as an imagined styling image that may not accurately represent the item

Suggested disclosure:

AI-generated styling images are provided for inspiration only. They are not an accurate representation of the garment’s fit, proportions, color, construction, or condition. Please refer to the photographs of the actual item.

AI-Edited Product Photographs

Photographs of the actual item may not be altered with AI in a way that changes or conceals:

 • Color
 • Fit or proportions
 • Fabric texture
 • Construction details
 • Labels
 • Damage, wear, repairs, or flaws
 • Any other characteristic relevant to a purchasing decision

Basic cropping, lighting correction, and background removal are permitted only when they do not materially change the appearance of the item.

Shop and Promotional Images

AI-generated images of vintage fashion may not be used as:

 • Seller avatars or profile images
 • Shop banners or on-site shop marketing
 • Primary product images

Listings containing AI-generated imagery will not receive consideration for email, editorial, social media, or other Fashion Conservatory marketing.

AI-Generated Listing Text

Sellers may use AI tools to assist with writing, but they remain fully responsible for the accuracy of every statement in a listing.

AI-generated text must not invent or misrepresent an item’s:

 • Brand or designer
 • Age or date
 • Materials
 • Measurements
 • Condition
 • Origin or provenance
 • Construction
 • Historical significance

Buyer Disputes and Enforcement

Sellers are responsible for ensuring that AI-generated content cannot reasonably be mistaken for an accurate representation of the item.

When an AI image is misleading, inadequately disclosed, or not clearly labeled, it may be considered in a not as described claim and may result in a decision in the buyer’s favor.

Fashion Conservatory may remove noncompliant images or listings and may restrict, suspend, or remove sellers who repeatedly violate this policy.
